GWO (Global Wind Organization) Certification

GWO Certification helps training providers in the renewable wind energy sector to create a better and safer working environment.

What is GWO Certification?

The Global Wind Organization (GWO) is a non-profit body formed by wind turbine manufacturers and owners. Starting in 2012, the GWO aims to use their collective knowledge and influence to make the global wind and energy sector a safer place for you to work.

GWO has since launched a range of other training standards which align the requirements of employers with those of workers carrying out various roles in the wind turbine industry.

Benefits of GWO Certification

  1. The GWO framework aligns generic safety and technical training standards, common to all wind energy companies;
  2. Having adopted the GWO framework, reduced duplication of training improves productivity by allowing technicians to be available for work, in some cases by as much as 5-6 additional work days every year;
  3. The GWO global training provider network is providing cost and efficiency gains to owner operators, manufacturers,and contractors. As the network grows, employers benefit from increased competition;
  4. GWO standards are established as contractual pre-requisite in the wind energy supply chain, helping align the safety training activities of all contractors.

How to get a GWO Certificate?

To be certified, your GWO training operation must be audited by a certification body, which must comply with the GWO Requirements. Kaixin Certification, member of the Cotecna Group, is a GWO approved certification body that is authorized to perform a GWO audit.
